KV Kumar Silk Sarees Pvt. Ltd. has very humble beginnings. The company was officially created in 2007, but the back-story that led up to its formation is quite intriguing. KV Kumar, founder of KV Kumar Silk Saris, is a fourth generation silk sari weaver. His grandfather, KK Ethirajalu Bhagavathar (born 1917) began producing silk saris in 1930.
As a member of the Saurashtra community, KK Ethirajalu grew up learning the intricacies of finely woven silk saris. Cotton was grown in large quantities by members of the Saurashtra community. Grown in the Arabian Sea breeze, this cotton was of the finest quality and perfect for making thin thread. Their access to this superior cotton made it natural for expert weaving skills to develop.
KK Ethriajalu grew up in this culture and passed his knowledge to his son, KKE Venkatachalam. KKE Venkatachalam developed a piping technique that allowed him to create simple designs on each sari created. His expert tutelage resulted in KV Kumar and his brothers becoming skilled weavers. He was able to hand the company over to the capable hands of KV Kumar and his brothers. As time progressed, however, the brothers decided that it was best to go their separate ways.
KV Kumar created his own expert silk sari business, KV Kumar Silk Saris, in 2007 along with his sons KK Rajkumar and KK Sureshkumar. Kumar, with his approachable demeanor and a customer-friendly attitude, helped build many key partnerships with retailers all across the country. His sari design skills are renown and his creations are always in demand. He has always been keen to introduce new technologies as soon as they became available.
The company has grown tremendously since its founding. We now employ approximately 750 weavers and 29 administrative staff. We are innovators who keep abreast of the latest fashion trends. Our present manufacturing process combines the best features of the traditional process with modern techniques that speed up the weaving process. We stay loyal to the beautiful traditions of the Indian silk saris and maintain our commitment to provide authentic products.
